At this year’s Folk Festival celebration event Matt Piper (Swanage Folk Festival’s Treasurer) handed over a cheque for £500 to Dementia Friendly Purbeck.
Swanage Folk Festival’s chairperson Jon Baker said:
“As a local festival we help local good causes, and donate any surplus once the festival is finished each year. We focus on supporting the local community. Dementia Friendly Purbeck do wonderdul work locally and are currently aiming to support another community Admiral Nurse pecialising in dementia care”
Dementia Friendly Purbeck is a community organisation supporting individuals living with dementia and their carers throughout the Purbeck area. Formed by merging local dementia communities, it offers services like telephone support, drop-in centers, and therapeutic singing sessions. Notably, the group secured Purbeck’s first community Admiral Nurse, specialising in dementia care. They also maintain a tranquil allotment in Wareham for reflection.
